Where are you from/based now?

I live in Melbourne, Australia. I've been here my whole life.

What is your background in Photography? What got you started?

I started about 3-4 years ago after I got injured pretty badly playing sport. I needed something else to keep me busy while i was recovering so I found an old SLR (minolta srt101) at a thrift/second hand store and went from there. I started taking photos of places around where I live and at school during gaps in classes. I didn't enjoy school overly so it was a nice escape. I shot everything in black and white there because that was how I saw the place.

What equipment do you use?

Primarily Mamiya RZ67 pro ii, Mamiya 7, Fuji GA645 and an Olympus Stylus Epic for the more spontaneous kind of stuff on roadtrips etc.

What are your feelings on Film Vs Digital?

I think it has become quite a silly and outdated question. They obviously both have their pros and cons and I think it's just up to the photographer and what he/ she chooses, just how a painter may elect to use oils over watercolours. I've always sworn by film, not just for it's aesthetic appeal but because I feel most confident shooting that way. I personally feel a little let down and dissatisfied when I look at images on the back of a digital camera, and I feel i'd struggle to compete with the amount of great digital work that's around. For the moment i'm sticking to what's comfortable and pleasurable.

Do you have a creative process? Are your shots planned or spontaneous?

No not really, i always beat myself up over the fact that I struggle to foresee and create a conceptual series. Instead I feel that I wonder around aimlessly shooting anything that takes my fancy. The photos really depend on things like holidays I happen to go on or cars I come across while riding my bike at night etc etc. Of course there's times where i come across nothing and it's hard. I just bought a Mamiya 7 so looking to shoot some different material just for a change and to see what comes of it.

Who or what inspires you?

Photos i'm yet to take. Also the process of looking back on all the images I've taken when I'm an old man.

Is there a particular photographer, site, set of images or a photo book that you keep coming back to for inspiration?

I've found Tumblr a really good place for inspiration of late. There's a pretty healthy photographic movement going on where there's just loads of good stuff all around the world to feed your brain with. I find it gets a bit to much at times with the amount of talent there, but it opens you up in regards to trying your hand at new things and in approaching the familiar from a new angle. In particular these sites: jesuisperdu.tumblr.com and mpdrolet.tumblr.com Also the art of the Australian Painter Jeffrey Smart, give him a google.

Are you working on a project at the moment?

No, not at the moment. I'm just continuing to hunt and gather. Planning to head to the US this year with my girlfriend and explore the world a bit, and to see what kind of photos come out of it. Hopefully they'll be ok.

Where are you from/based now?

I was born in Argentina and now I live and work in “sunny” Mallorca, Spain.

What is your background in Photography? What got you started?

I went to school to be a musician, but I realized that I wasn't very good. The school life wasn't made for me, so I found time to grab my brother’s camera and try to take some decent pictures. Shortly after I found myself working as a staff photographer in a newspaper.

What equipment do you use?

I’m currently working with a Mamiya 7I and a large format Nagaoka 4x5”, a great duet!

What are your feelings on Film Vs Digital?

I mainly work with film. I find that it almost gives me the kind of color and details that I hope to get. But I think everything depends on what you want to say with your pictures. I also have digital cameras that I use from time to time. Also film photography is getting expensive lately so digital is an option when the economic times are hard.

Do you have a creative process? Are your shots planned or spontaneous?

I like to be wandering around trying to look and find things. Sometimes I turn around and suddenly something or someone appears. Almost always these things are mundane, banal or secondary in their context. These kind of things are what I look for when I travel, which you approach the environment from a perspective completely different from the conventional tourist. As a Boeing abandoned in a suburb of Seoul or a couple looking at the swollen river in Argentina.
But also I think it is good sometimes to plan some kind of pictures, wait for a better light, go back another day to see if something better appears. I also feel good working in this way.

Who or what inspires you?

Jazz music, good films, drive around on weekends with my grilfriend, try to cook a good meal, my plants and “Chet” my cat, and a little bit of Alec Soth.

Is there a particular photographer, site, set of images or a photo book that you keep coming back to for inspiration?

The William Eggleston's “Guide”, and Robert M. Pirsig's “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance” not a photobook but a great road partner!

Are you working on a project at the moment?

I’m always focused on my travels and taking pictures outside. But now I want to explore
more where I live, a bunch of little stories that can build a large narrative about the place around me.

Where are you from/based now?

I am from Barcelona now living in NY
I moved here 3 months ago and Im planning on staying here for one more year

What is your background in Photography? What got you started?

Ive been taking pictures for some time now. I tried to study photography but i did not like it as much so I kept doing it on my own.
My memory is really bad so pictures help me remember moments and things, it sounds as if I am 90 but I'm 23 , haha

What equipment do you use?

I use a contax normally but I like to try out different cameras too.

What are your feelings on Film Vs Digital?

I prefer film, it is more fun. You can't really know exactly what you will get so the mystery remains a bit.
I like digital cameras too, I think its a really practical and comfortable way to know perfectly whats going on and to correct things on the moment. I recently got myself a digital camera so I'm not against
I just tend to think film is more exciting

Do you have a creative process? Are your shots planned or spontaneous?

I try all my shots to be as spontaneous as they can be, I just take pictures at the things and people around me.
I dont like to modify reality because it never ends up as I imagined, so I prefer to take pictures as things are

Who or what inspires you?

I have to say since I've been in the US everything inspires me very much. Something is always happening to picture it, even when nothing is going on something is.
Everything is really huge so I'm under the impression that theres so much more to see and live here
I hate when i don't have my camera because I have the feeling I may loose a good shot.

Is there a particular photographer, site, set of images or a photo book that you keep coming back to for inspiration?

Im not sure, I love to go around the internet and see different sites, and there is so many good things out there, I also try to buy as many books and zines i can.

Are you working on a project at the moment?

Yes, lately I was lucky to get the chance to go on a John Talabot and The XX music tour around the US, so I got to see many cities and really interesting places.
My boyfriend and I videotaped the tour so we are working with the footage and the pictures right now.
